My View on ccTLD
Most of us have watched the video by the 3000 dollar a day domainer. One of the reasons I waited this long to post my views is because I really do not want to influence any one’s decision. However if you care to know what I personally think, then here it is.
Do I believe it is possible to make a lot of money from Country Code Top Level Domains (ccTLD). (more…)
Just updating on what I have been doing
Peace on to you fellow domainers. I just want to take a few minutes and update you on what I have been doing, where I have been and what I have been doing with my brands.
First and foremost, I am now a member of Twitter. It is the new rave in the domain world. I have known about Twitter for more than a year now but felt it was just another waste of my time. (more…)
Domains as an Alternative Asset Class
I think we in the domain industry need to stop pitching domains as a marketing medium and start pitching it as an alternative asset class – as online real estate. If you approach a business and tell them that “ the right name is to a business what the right building or location is to an offline entity”, then it’s easier for people to see things as valuable…
The problem with marketing is that it has always been a bit nebulous. By that I mean until online marketing and advertising, one couldn’t show EXACTLY the relationship between dollar-for-dollar spending on marketing and how much profit or increased sales have come in. (more…)
Is your website writing checks it can’t cash?
Here I go again. I am sure you are wondering what is this leading to. Well stay with me here. I recently had a site developed. Hearing dogs(dot)Com. I felt the need to add a “for sale sign” on the website so that people will know that the site is also for sale. It reads “HearingDogs(dot)com is for sale” Well well well, will you believe I have gotten a good couple of requests but not for the domain name and site but for hearing dogs. (more…)
A good name is better than great riches
The title of this post was lifted from Proverbs 22:1 NIV “A good name is more desirable than great riches….” How true this is with our present economy. We are currently in a recession and every economist knows that to right this economy, the Government will try to infuse some funds into the system which will lead to a period of inflation. If everything goes well, they will be able to balance the economy with time otherwise your guess is as good as mine. (more…)
My Two Hand Regs from the Superbowl
This is by no means an analogy of the Superbowl. I believe most of the bloggers have already done a superb job and blogs like DotWeekly has already gone in depth into the area I am usually most interested in which is the ads. (more…)
How I Quit My Job in 61 Days
Have you ever wondered how people make the leap from 9 to 5 working for someone to 24/7 domaining? Have you ever wondered what goes on in there mind before the decision to quit there job and right after they actually quit? Have you ever wondered what it takes to quit your regular job? Well I met CleverlySlick about 2 months ago in the forum when he declared to the whole world that he was thinking of quiting his job. I kept tap on him and when he finally did I cornered him for a guest post. (more…)
A Generic Domain is Like a Harvard Degree
I have a feeling this post might ruffle some feathers on both aisles so why don’t I start by apologizing to those whose feathers I might ruffle. To those who simply do not agree with me. It is OK, we both have a right to be wrong .
When you are a domainer, you see domains in almost anything. A couple of days ago, I was watching a documentary on the Harvard (more…)
An Encounter With an End User
Each time I have a brush with a potential end user, it is always exciting, When that end user is the Executive Vice President of a Multi-Million dollar Company, excitement reaches a whole new dimension.
Last weekend I was introduced to a gentleman who is the Executive Vice President of a multi-milion dollar company. (more…)
Are We the “We” Generation ?
I was watching CNN yesterday like most people. I however did notice something interesting. I noticed that a lot of the ads on TV now centers on these themes ” We, Together”. Everything seams to be community oriented and how you can make the world a better place by getting involved. Notable mentions are the following ads, Starbucks ad, I rate this ad excellent for imagination and originality. Pretty cool ad. Pepsi also had something going (more…)
